About me

I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Cape Town and the South African Astronomical Observatory. I am an astrophysicist specializing in the study of active stellar sources that emit X-ray and radio waves. My research focuses on using multi-wavelength data from instruments like MeerKAT, ESA Gaia, and eROSITA to better understand these stars in the Milky Way.

A key part of my work involves line identification using optical spectroscopy, where I trace Hydrogen Balmer and Calcium II H and K lines. This helps me explore the physical conditions in stellar atmospheres and magnetic activity driving X-ray and radio emissions.

In addition to my research, I apply data analysis techniques to manage and interpret large datasets. I also leverage machine learning and advanced statistical methods to gain deeper insights from the data. I enjoy sharing my knowledge through teaching and collaborating on projects where astronomy, data science, and machine learning intersect.

My current research interest

  • Variable stars: chromospherically active stars, radio stars, flare stars, X-ray stars, young stellar, spectroscopy and photometry in observational astrophysics
  • Stellar Planet Interactions: brown dwarfs, exoplanets
  • Statistical/Machine Learning: Multi-wavelength cross-correlation, regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection
